Just £601 is available to Cambusbarron from the current round of grants, the community having received £3500 towards the replacement of the Burnside lights.
The fund also serves Denny and District and Carron Valley and District community council areas. Controversially, these two areas receive 45 per cent of the grant funds with Cambusbarron CC receiving just 10 per cent – a strange anomaly that Cambusbarron CC representatives have tried to get changed without any success so far.
The funds will provide grants to support charitable activities that enhance the quality of life for local people, contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities, and promote community spirit and encourage community activity.
A wide range of costs and activities will be considered for funding. For example, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations, maintenance or the refurbishment of community facilities.
At the last round of spending , Denny and Carron Valley both received grants of £1900 and £2400 respectively for their community newsletters and Denny got £2000 to fund a Gala Day.
Full details about the fund is available on the Foundation Scotland website on which applications can be submitted. For more information, contact a community councillor.
Application deadlines this year for grants of between £250 and £10,000 are February 17, May 16 and September 16. The Advisory Panel, on which Cambusbarron CC is represented, meets on March 26, June 25 and October 26.
