Volunteers have been distributing leaflets and opinions are also being gathered through a Facebook page – Hayford Mills Development.
The matter is on the agenda for the monthly meeting of Cambusbarron Community Council (CCC) in the Primary School at 7pm on Tuesday, October 21. While various individuals and groups, including the CCC, have lodged objections, it has been generally agreed that, if assurances could be obtained, it would be in everyone’s interest if this large semi-demolished area could be redeveloped for housing.
However, deadlock has been reached due to Stirling Council’s demand for the developer to provide some ‘Section 75 planning gain’. This is a sum based on the number and value of the homes in the proposed development.
The figure mentioned in some online correspondence is an eye-watering £1 million – a figure that may scare away potential developers.
