From 11.50 on that day, fancy dress registration and judging will take place and the parade will gather outside the community centre. When the gala queen and her entourage are all in place (around 12.25), the parade will start round the streets of the village led by the Balaclava Pipe Band. If it passes your house, why not go out on the pavement and give them a cheer. It's a special day, a day the children involved will remember for the rest of their lives.
The parade ends up entering the King George V Park at the Birkhill Road entrance and then the fun starts in earnest with the programme of events and activities arranged by the hard-working gala committee. There will be a variety of stalls, beer tent, burger bar and coffee van.
Centre stage entertainment includes Blues Tap, Dawn Fraser School of Dance, Cambusbarron Karate and the finals of Cambusbarron's Got Talent.
There's also the presentation of prizes for all the gala week competitions, such as the football, cross-country running, baking and photographic competitions.
Not only that, the gala is a day when you get a chance to meet and chat with friends and near-neighbours. Enjoy one of Michael More's burgers and catch up on all the news.
