No, this March is crucial because of the crisis now facing Gillies Hill: the determination of quarriers to destroy even more of the historic and beautiful site. And that's why we need a record turn-out. Not only to hear our speakers at the Borestone - novelist Craig Robertson, Ann McGuire MP, Bruce Crawford MSP, and former MP and MSP Dennis Canavan, alongside, we hope, a direct descendant of the Bruce, Lord Elgin.
So: be a modern ghillie. Be there, along with as many friends as you can persuade, on Sunday 22 June, at 1.30pm at Cambusbarron Park. Show the quarriers and those officials and politicians who will decide the Hill's fate that public opinion is 99.999% for Gillies Hill.
The weekend after our gala and the Gillies Hill March, thousands of visitors are set to come to Stirling for Bannockburn Live and the Armed Forces Day. It all happens on the weekend of June 28/29 and plenty people from Cambusbarron will be enjoying these events.
Even if you don't plan to attend, however, people should be checking out the local press and various websites to be aware of major changes in traffic arrangements that these events will bring.
New giant temporary car parks are being created, various roads will be closed for periods of time and the public transport arrangements are being tweaked to cope with the expected rush. If you work at weekends, it would be sensible to check out the plans so that you are not caught up in a traffic jam.
