They have been produced by both your Community Council and Stirling Council, and despite a couple of 'errors' from the latter, they certainly improve our understanding of Cambusbarron's long history.
And well done to Jim Fisher, Land Service Protection Officer, and his men from Stirling Council for moving the litter bin which, since the renovated Bruce's Well last November, has spoiled the views of the Bruce's Well plaque.
The principal error is the photograph on the Gillies Hill panel and the leaflet, supposedly of Polmaise Castle. It's not. It's actually a photo of Torbrex House that some villagers will recall sitting above Torbrex Road near where St Valery's Drive is now located.
The leaflets are, despite that error, potentially very useful as well, and will be available soon from probably the village Library and some other places. Both panels and leaflets - and you'll see the same type of things throughout the Stirling area - are an attempt to enhance our collective awareness of the richness of our local and how important it is to preserve it.
