Our focus this month is on fundraising. We need to prepare as strong a case as possible against the reopening of the quarry , and although we have a lot of expertise ‘in house’ we will need on occasions to ask for expert advice, especially in the areas of planning law.
We also foresee that there will be areas of knowledge related to ecology and the local market for rock products, on which we may have to seek expert advice. It may be also that there will be ‘hearings’ where it would be advantageous for us to be legally represented. So it is clear that we must have sufficient funds otherwise our case could fall. We have several schemes up our sleeves for the summer months, but the main one for March is the race night. Please come along and support us.
Remember this campaign is trying to protect YOUR community for the years ahead, so that your children and grandchildren can enjoy the freedom of walking or cycling on Gillies Hill.
One final thought, if we are unsuccessful in stopping this planning application we are convinced that in the not too distant future an application would be made to extend the quarry boundary down the hill towards Cambusbarron.
If we can’t prepare a strong enough case to stop this application what makes us think we could stop a future extension?
We need your support to stop this application now.
