Burnside Lighting - A large proportion of the funding for this project has already been secured, and we are hopeful that the outstanding sums will be forthcoming, so that the scheme can finally go ahead.
2014: Bruce’s Well Commemorative Stone - This project is on track. A granite block, donated by Stirling Stone with a plaque inscribed at no cost to us by Scotia Granite, will soon be in place at the site of Bruce’s Well. Our thanks to both these organisations for their assistance with this project.
2014: Photography Exhibition - An application for a grant to hold an exhibition of historic photographs of Cam- busbarron soldiers of WW1 and possibly WW2 has been made.
Plant Group - This group is gearing up to put on an spectacular floral dis- play this summer, with more hanging baskets (some hanging from lamp posts and kindly donated by Scottish Power) and tubs. If you can help with the watering rota, please let any member of the Community Council know. Even helping once or twice over the summer would help.
They have also received funding for the materials to build planters at the main entry points to the village, near the new village signs.
Three Fields Path through Quarry - If you have recently tried to walk this path, then it’s likely that you would be stopped by the overflow from the “pond” about 200m from the Quarry Road gate. We are currently in discussion with the landowner and trying to get funds to repair the drainage on the Core Path.
Rubbish - As ever, there have been complaints of litter left for others to clean up. Last month, the path from George V park to Clayhills Drive was highlighted together with general dumping in the Gillies Hill woods. A clean-up of Touch Road has been completed, with 15 large bags of bottles, cans, cardboard and plastic cups etc removed. Find a bin or take your litter home!
Playgroup - The Open Evening and AGM is on Tuesday, June 11, at 7.30pm in the Community Centre. Come along, enjoy a glass of wine and support your playgroup, which is run by a voluntary committee of parents/carers.
Save Gillies Hill - The date of the AGM has been changed to 7pm on Thursday, May 30 (previously the 23rd) in the Community Centre. It is hoped there will be a big turn-out. This year's March of the Gillies will be on Sunday, June 23
