NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
11th March 2013
Bruce Memorial Church Hall 7pm
Traffic issues at Douglas Terrace, Cambusbarron
The issue of traffic in Douglas Terrace has come to our attention recently, due to an incident with a Stirling Council gritting lorry in December 2012
In January 2013, Stirling Council made verbal statements to the Community Council indicating that gritting lorries would not travel through Douglas Terrace to grit the route to St Thomas’s Cemetery, and suggested a small length of double yellow lines at the critical bend in Douglas Terrace might be a solution. Your Community Council considered the issue at their January meeting and concluded that it was imperative that access for winter maintenance vehicles to St Thomas’s cemetery and surrounding roads was maintained. On that basis the Community Council gave its support to Stirling Council’s proposed parking control solution.
Stirling Council’s current position is:-
"Gritters are still treating Douglas Terrace when they can safely gain access. It is incorrect to say we have stopped treating this route. Access is dictated by how considerately people park their vehicles."
CONSULTATION WITH RESIDENTS
The purpose of the special meeting is for the community to give their views on:-
• Is there a problem with vehicular access and exit, especially for gritting lorries, etc?
• If so, how best to solve it?
This consultation will enable the Community Council to either confirm or withdraw their support for parking control measures at the critical point on Douglas Terrace, so your attendance is important.
