There was a big shock at the Foresters Arms spring outing for the Robert Gair Memorial Golf Championship when Ian Leishman landed the trophy for the first time.
However, it was business as usual at the autumn event on September 6 at Schawpark in Alloa. Receiving the much-prized trophy for a record eighth time was veteran Stuart McKenzie, surely the oldest swinger in town.
Stirling Council has awarded a start-up grant of £1100 to cover printing costs for this newsletter from the Community Pride Fund.
This will allow the community council to bring out a monthly, four-page publication previewing meetings and community events, highlighting issues and local initiatives, and with features on local characters, walking routes, old photos etc.
It's hoped that we will also attract sponsors to allow us to continue the newsletter on a permanent basis. If you are prepared to help fund the newsletter, contact Alan Rennie on 01786 471825.
Thanks are extended to Stirling Council's funding officer Jean Cowie for her help in gaining this funding.
